DOUG MACRAE, CHAIRMAN
Doug has broad and deep business experience with both start-ups, ongoing concerns and international entities. He is President and Founder of TV Guide On Screen (f.k.a. VideoGuide, Inc.), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc. He also serves on the boards of the following businesses: @TV Media (advertising joint venture between Gemstar, Thompson, and NBC), Norpak Corporation (manufacturer of television broadcasting equipment), Telecruz (designer of television graphic chips), Interactive Program Guide Inc. (Japanese joint venture between Dentsu and Gemstar), GCC Technologies (manufacturer of laser printers) and PBS National Datacast (data broadcaster).
Doug also has extensive nonprofit experience and serves on the board of five other organizations in addition to Agape International including The Pingry School in Martinsville NJ, the New England Aquarium, The Fenn School in Concord MA, and the Cedarville University Technology Board. Doug’s commitment to Agape stems from his heart for children and belief in the need and impact of early intervention and education.
Doug is married and has two children.
DEBRA BREDE, TREASURER
Debra also brings strong financial and business experience to her role as Treasurer of the Agape International Board. She is the President of DKBrede Investment Management Company which she founded in 1990. Prior to that, she was VP of Investments at Prudential Bache from 1988-1990 and Financial Advisor at Shearson from 1980-1988.
Debra also has extenstive experience with nonprofit boards. She currently serves on the board of the Boston Rescue Mission and she has previously served on the Systems Advisory Board of the Boston Stock Exchange.
Debra has a BS in Biology from Penn State, and is married with two children.
KIM OGDEN, SECRETARY
Kim is the current COO of Agape International . Prior to joining Agape International, Kim was a Partner with Bain & Company, the Boston based management consulting firm. Kim was with Bain and Company for fourteen years. While at Bain, Kim worked in a large variety of industries, but also led the Healthcare Practice which consulted to healthcare providers, insurers, pharmaceutical companies and biotech firms.
While at Bain and as an independent consultant, Kim has worked with a number of Boston area and international nonprofits including The Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston, CityYear, Horizons Initiative, and Pura Vida Partners. She has traveled to Costa Rica to participate in Pura Vida’s compassion programs serving impoverished children in San Jose.
Kim has an MBA from Harvard Business School with honors and a BA in Economics from Dartmouth College where she was Phi Beta Kappa. She is married with two children.
DR. DANIEL MUPIDDI
Daniel brings medical experience as well as hands on knowledge of the types of communities Agape International intends to serve. Daniel grew up and was educated in India at Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad where he received graduate training in dermatology and leprosy. He came to the US in 1989 and currently serves as Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School as well as a consultant in allergy, asthma and immunology at Mass General.
Daniel visits India regularly for medical teaching and conferences. His parents live in India and run an orphanage in Khammam. Daniel and his wife Mary have two children.
DICK CSAPLAR
Dick is a semi-retired lawyer with almost 40 years’ experience in corporate and real estate finance law. He worked for Dewey, Ballantine, Bushby, Palmer & Wood on Wall Street for six years before setting up, in 1965 with another Dewey lawyer, his own firm in Boston. It grew to 80 lawyers in Boston, Philadelphia and San Francisco before merging with another firm in 1990. Today, Dick spends much of his time working pro bono, with charitable organizations including his chairmanship of the board of the Boston Rescue Mission, member (formerly chairman) of Regent University, and legal advisor to Sylvia’s Haven, a woman’s transitional housing organization. Dick also continues a small private practice.
Dick graduated from the New York City public schools, Carleton college and , magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He has been on the Faculty of Harvard Law School and taught full courses at Boston College Law School, Regent University Law School and Christian University of Southern Africa (Harare, Zimbabwe) as well as acted as resident foreign Advisor to the Chief Justice of Afghanistan (Kabul Afghanistan).
JULIE MACRAE
Julie brings extensive child care and education experience to the Agape International board. She has over ten years experience as a childcare provider. She has a BA in Applied Psychology from Cedarville University.
Julie also has considerable nonprofit experience. She is a member of the Leadership Council of the New England Aquarium and of Horizon’s Initiative (a nonprofit building play and educational spaces for homeless children).
KEN BREDE
Ken brings additional medical experience to the Agape International board. Ken has a BS in Biochemistry from Penn State and DMD from Tufts. He currently runs his own dental practice that he started in 1985.
LYNNE GUHMAN
Lynne is the founder and Executive Director of Agape International. Lynne has visited India frequently since 2000 and founded Agape International after seeing the suffering due to AIDS.
Lynne has a business background and most recently worked for DK Brede Investments in Boston as a registered investment professional. Prior to starting Agape, Lynne was active in many nonprofit organizations including MA Easter Seal Society, WGBH Public Radio, Muscular Dystrophy Association and Abby’s Shelter.
