As part of our medical outreach, we distribute AIDS education materials to patients. There is still a great deal of misinformation on the virus in India and other parts of Asia. The education materials make it clear how the virus is transmitted and how to avoid transmittal. We have seen first hand the results of poor information – children turned out from families and villages because of fear of catching the virus and patients with the AIDS virus continuing to engage in activities which can transmit the virus. Asia is in the early stages of the AIDS epidemic and it is our hope that with more education, Asia will not become another Africa.
