About Us (International Board of Directors)


    Doug has served as chairman since the founding of Agape in 2003. He has broad and deep business experience in start-ups, public companies and international business. Prior to retiring in 2006, he was President of TV Guide Consumer Electronics with offices in North America, Europe, and Asia. In the past, he has served on the boards of the following businesses: Gemstar - TV Guide, @TV Media, Norpak Corporation (Canada), Telecruz, Interactive Program Guide Inc. (Japan), VideoGuide, GCC Technologies and PBS National Datacast. He currently consults as an expert witness in intellectual property cases.

Doug also has extensive nonprofit experience and serves or has served on the boards of the following organizations: Home Improvement Ministries, Pingry School, New England Aquarium, and Fenn School.

Doug is married and has two children, both now living in California.



    Debra brings strong financial and business experience to her role on the Agape International board. She is the President of D. K. Brede Investment Management Company Inc. which she founded in 1990. Barron's named Debra Brede one of the Top 100 Women Financial Advisers in the U.S. for the eight straight years: 2006 - 2013. She has been given recognition that reflects industry expertise by the Financial Times, Boston Business Journal, Registered Rep magazine, and Boston magazine. She has also been featured in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Businessweek, Financial Times, Reuters, and Bloomberg.

Debra has extensive experience with nonprofit boards. She has also served on the Systems Advisory Board of the Boston Stock Exchange and was chairman of the District Economic Education Committee for the Security Industry Association. She remains active on several boards including Newton Wellesley Hospital, Board of Trustees and Boston Rescue Mission, Executive Board of Directors.

Debra has always balanced her professional career with an active commitment to community service. For each of the last seven years, she traveled to Hyderabad, India with her family to work along her husband, a practicing dentist, in delivering free dental care to 250 children at the Agape International orphanage.

Debra graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in Biology and was given the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2009. She is a 2007 graduate of the prestigious Harvard Business School Owner/President Management.



Julie brings extensive child care and education experience to the Agape board. She has a BA in Applied Psychology from Cedarville University with a focus on child psychology.

Julie also has considerable nonprofit experience. She has been or is a member of the board of Home Improvement Ministries, the Leadership Council of the New England Aquarium, the Cedarville University New England alumni representative, and the Leadership Council of Horizon’s Initiative. Julie's commitment to Agape stems from her heart for children and belief in the need and impact of early intervention and education.

Julie is married and has two children, both now living in California.



Ken brings significant medical experience to the Agape International Board. Ken has a BS in Biochemistry from Penn State and DMD from Tufts. He currently runs his own dental practice that he started in 1985.

Ken is very committed to providing dental care for the Agape children. For the past seven years, Ken along with his wife and two children have volunteered their time and gone to India to treat each of Agape's children.




Lynne is the founder and Executive Director of Agape International. She visited India frequently, and was deeply impacted by the suffering due to AIDS.  She moved there in 2003 to found Agape International to help AIDS affected/infected children.

Lynne has a business background and worked for D.K. Brede Investment Management Co. Inc. in Boston as a registered investment professional. Prior to starting Agape, Lynne was active in many nonprofit organizations including MA Easter Seal Society, WGBH Public Radio, Muscular Dystrophy Association and Abby’s Shelter.

Lynne met and married Dr. Ratnam Voggu, in India. Dr. Ratnam is a dedicated physician and served as Agapes Medical Director for several years. They have a son named James. 

Lynne is committed to Agape and life in India.



Eleanor Stoppe Gorsey, Ph.D., formerly Assistant Professor at Southern Illinois University, Parks College of St. Louis University, principal of the Bedford Learning School, and certified public school supervisor and teacher.  





Greg Hopwood is the Senior Pastor of the First Parish Congregational Church in Wakefield, MA. This special church was founded in 1644, maintains vibrant life today and is a new partner with Agape. In addition to his pastoral background, Greg brings to the board his experience living in the Middle East and his work in education.

Greg moved to Jordan in 2008 to teach English and to complete doctoral research. He finished his dissertation in 2009 by developing a leadership development curriculum for high school youth. The key aim of this curriculum is to build bridges of understanding between Jewish, Muslim and Christian youth. Previously, Greg worked as the High School principal of Nashua Christian Academy, a school that serves over fifty churches in Southern New Hampshire.

Greg has a BA in Intercultural Communications & Missions from Cedarville University, a MBA in Urban Economic Development from Eastern University, and a Doctorate of Ministry from Bakke Graduate University.



Samuel Rodriguez earned a BS at Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations and a Juris Doctor law degree from State University of New York. His work with children spans over 30 years and includes the creation of a Children’s Outreach Center at Cornell, providing legal, educational, outreach and advocacy to children in need. Samuel is a founding member of the AMSA Academy in Marlborough, MA, and is an active member of the board of directors of an organization offering relief to children and families in Haiti.

Samuel and his wife Terry have an adopted son.
